Interns at KAG Advocacy
KAG Advocacy provides a range of valuable internship and placement opportunities in partnership with Kingston University, Royal Holloway University, Goldsmiths University and the Thomas Pocklington Trust. We also offer six-month placements for pro bono volunteers through the Pro Bono Society. Our interns and volunteers gain practical experience across a variety of areas of KAG’s work. This includes supporting our advice clinics, remote learning and research, and developing an understanding of the different services and projects undertaken by KAG Advocacy.
Kingston University
KAG provides 50-hour internships for students studying the Masters Psychology course at Kingston University. The internship provides students with practical experience through:
● Working alongside KAG at our advice clinics.
● Developing their knowledge and understanding of KAG’s work.
● Progressing to managing their own caseload.
● Working with people involved in the Befriending Project. This provides students with an opportunity to develop their professional skills while gaining first-hand experience of working directly with people who access KAG’s services.
Pro Bono Placements
KAG offers six-month placements for pro bono volunteers in partnership with the ProBono Society.
Volunteers are initially placed within our advice clinics, where they gain experience anddevelop their understanding of KAG’s work. As their knowledge and confidence develops,they can progress towards handling their own caseload.These placements provide an opportunity to gain valuable practical experience whilecontributing to the work of KAG Advocacy and supporting the people who use our services.
Royal Holloway University and Goldsmiths University
KAG offers micro-placements lasting two weeks for students from Royal Holloway University and Goldsmiths University. These placements combine face-to-face and remote working, allowing students to gain abroad introduction to KAG Advocacy and its services. Students have the opportunity to:
● Shadow staff and volunteers at our advice clinics.
● Observe how advice and support are provided.
● Gain an understanding of the different areas of KAG’s work.
● Undertake remote work and learning activities.
Thomas Pocklington Trust
KAG Advocacy provides paid nine-month internships in partnership with the ThomasPocklington Trust.These internships provide an opportunity for interns to gain meaningful experience withinKAG, developing their skills and understanding through practical involvement in our work.Interns have the opportunity to experience different aspects of KAG Advocacy, including ouradvice clinics and wider projects, while developing their professional skills in a supportiveworking environment.
